the Ryan update
He's taking after his big brother with the love of books (and trucks aka "backhoe tractors"):
He's also be perfecting the "I'm shy" flirty look

He's also mastered a kissing sound and likes beans as much as his big brother. He's gotten great at moving backwards, sideways, and in all kinds of directions but no real forward movement (besides 2 seconds of army crawl this morning). He also loves yelling for fun but mommy and daddy are not too thrilled with that (especially since his favorite time to do it is Trent's bedtime!).
I'm so behind...

kisses!
We were getting ready to try to get some pictures of the 4 kiddos together (my two, Joel's newest baby cousin "C", and the cousin's little girl "S") and we caught the a super cute moment between Ryan and S! I should mention that Ryan really loves kisses, and he is trying to kiss S back in this photo:
After that quick kiss and snuggle moment, she quickly leaned back resulting in Ryan falling over:

a couple more toddlerisms
(we're getting ready for bed a couple of nights ago...Trent is in jammies and I just finished reading him a story from one of his "special big boy books")
Me: we're all done. Let's go say goodnight to daddy and Ryan, and then we've got one more thing to do. do you know what we forgot?
Trent: need coupons!
Me: (hoping that Joel hasn't heard and thinks I'm programming Trent to be a crazy coupon user or something) uh, no. I meant we need to brush your teeth.
Trent: no coupons?
Me: nope. no coupons. just our goodnights and some teeth brushing.
Last night, Trent's bedtime was coming up and he wanted Joel to read to him. He had a book that he knows well enough to "read" to us. Joel asked him to read the book out loud and Trent looked at him and said (in a very very sad voice) "is too big for me to read." Poor little guy!
(and then one from today. Trent was seriously cracking me up with strange comments all day long...but this one was by far the weirdest! We had just grabbed lunch at the mall and were headed to the car)
Trent: Have my water mommy.
Me: yep, you're carrying your water. That was a yummy lunch wasn't it. What did you eat?
Trent: Have water.
Me: Yes, you drank water with lunch. do you remember what you ate?
Trent: had gas for lunch mommy.
Me: gas???

our Saturday
We had a fairly uneventful morning, and Ryan was all smiles after I put Trent down for his nap- so we decided to try taking a few Ryan photos. He was not in the mood to be posed, so instead we were goofing around:

I did manage to catch a few adorable smiles, and got some okay photos of the little guy:
... and then Trent started crying really loudly. Turns out he thought naptime would be a good time to sit quietly in his crib picking at his heels. He had a small blister that he popped open and he was not happy about it. He was even less happy about getting it cleaned and putting a bandaid on it. So we calmed him down, and he got a spare Ryan pacifier and some snuggles:
He's a little bit anti-shoe for the moment, and I don't blame him!

Port Gamble with great uncle Bob and Gamma
Joel took the day off and we headed up to Port Gamble to show uncle Bob around a little bit. Here he is with Trent checking out the fire station.
